Highlighting Some of Our Best Work From 2022

Great work comes from great client-agency relationships, and we’re grateful to have both.

At Davidson Belluso, producing amazing creative is all in a day’s work.

It’s hard to believe 2022 is almost a wrap! As we make plans and set goals for the year ahead, we would also like to look back on the work we’ve done, the lessons we’ve learned, the partnerships we’ve built, and our talented team who continually and consistently delivers work that makes us proud. “Whenever our agency encounters a new challenge that requires a different approach, I’m always amazed at the level of creativity our team brings to the table to answer our clients’ needs,” said Michela Belluso, CEO.

Most people laugh at a clever ad, cry over a touching television spot, or admire a beautifully designed postcard and move on. But those of us in the advertising business linger a bit longer, thinking about what went into creating those final pieces… weeks (or months!) of researching, strategizing, meeting, discussing, budgeting, revising, rethinking, overthinking, collaborating, starting early and working late. And then, finally… celebrating. To us, those final pieces represent a labor of love between agency and client — a shared commitment and mutual respect, and a passion for doing great work together. We’re here for it all and are proud to show off some of our best work from 2022.

Recruitment Campaigns Addressing the Workforce Crisis

The Great Resignation phenomenon that was triggered by the pandemic added fuel to an existing workforce crisis, creating staffing issues across nearly every private and public business sector and prompting businesses to rethink and reinvent their recruitment and retention efforts. During this unprecedented time, employers need to better understand the drivers behind this phenomenon, what current and potential employees are looking for, and how their organizations can deliver it. We’ve worked with three of our clients — the City of Chandler, Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) — on recruitment campaigns designed to address evolving staffing challenges.

1. City of Chandler

After conducting a deep dive into research about shifting behaviors, and evaluations of current recruitment efforts and application processes, our team developed strategic marketing recommendations to improve the application and onboarding experience for applicants, and targeted media and creative approaches to specifically apply and address what we learned through that process.

Below are digital advertisements our agency created for the City of Chandler — just one tactic from a comprehensive marketing approach that also included a recruitment microsite developed by our team.

2. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office

Our recruitment campaign for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office included a video featuring Sheriff Paul Penzone. Having the Sheriff personally deliver MCSO’s message served the dual purpose of highlighting MCSO’s new corporate culture and delivering the key benefits of working with the organization.

3. Maricopa County Attorney’s Office

For the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, our agency developed a national recruitment plan using digital media and a recruitment microsite to target attorneys, paralegals, and other purpose-driven employees. The campaign launched in May and, in September, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office had its largest orientation class of new employees to date! On average, applications increased by approximately 59 percent per week since the start of the campaign.

Tempe Tourism Office Summer Staycation Campaign

Tempe, Arizona is a fun, inclusive, family-friendly town with a lot to offer both tourists and staycationers. For obvious reasons, summer isn’t prime tourist season for the Valley so we worked with our client Tempe Tourism Office on a summer staycation campaign to bring Arizona families to Tempe’s amazing restaurants, hotels, and venues.

“We used the signature Tempe Tourism Office brand colors to create a colorfully enticing set of ads that catches the eye in a matter of seconds,” said Gustavo Estrella, Director of Creative Services. “Bright colors capture Tempe’s essence and, complemented with digestible copy, the ads simply and effectively convey everything the city has to offer. And we’re always happy to encourage residents to have their staycation in the beautiful city of Tempe.”

Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) Back-to-School Campaign

To help our client Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) increase K-12 enrollment numbers, we worked together on a back-to-school campaign highlighting the district’s various educational and athletic programs, and the many other advantages that come with attending a district with a 125-year legacy of success. The summer campaign included a combination of digital and traditional media designed to educate parents (including those new to Scottsdale, Arizona and surrounding areas) on SUSD and encourage them to register their students for the upcoming academic year.
